Aladi Aruna

Aladi Aruna was a member of the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam and was elected to the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly in 1967, 1971 and 1996 (when he also became the law minister of the state), and was elected to the Lok Sabha in 1977. He participated in and led various agitations against Hindi in the 1960s, and was imprisoned for more than a year during this time. Aladi Aruna was also an acclaimed writer in both Tamil and English. Among his many books are Hindi Egathipathiyam (Hindi Imperialism) and Unfederal Features of the Indian Constitution.
